Welcome to a New Year of Sewing at The Sewing Shed

    February 4, 2026

Hello and a huge thank you for joining us at The Sewing Shed for a new term of sewing. It’s been a joy seeing you all back in the studio and I can’t wait to see your me-mades come together over the coming weeks.

I want to extend an extra warm welcome to the new sewers who’ve joined us this term. We know how daunting it can feel walking into a new space and putting your learning brain into action, we’ve all been there!

We hope that a few weeks in and with the support and friendship of your tutor and fellow sewers you’re starting to feel at home in The Sewing Shed. We can’t wait to see what you make, after the pyjama pants!

    Changes to our Sewing Timetable

It’s shaping up to be another busy term, and there are two pieces of class news I want to share with you.

Firstly, our adult daytime and evening classes are now full! I’m so sorry for anyone still wanting a spot at the sewing table this term, but I won’t be able to take any new bookings until after Easter.

I don’t think I’ve been in this position before. I’ve always tried to squeeze people in where I can while keeping classes numbers small so that everyone receives the sewing attention they need, but for now, we are at capacity.

Our online shop is the place to go to for up to date class availability including Patchwork and Quilting Classes and other events as and when they happen during the year. So, keep an eye out for updates online and make sure you’re signed up to the newsletter.

A Fond Farewell to Childrens Holiday Sewing Classes

I’ve made the tough decision to stop running Children’s Holiday Sewing Classes in 2026. I’ve loved sewing with children over the years, watching them bloom while they learn to sew, make friends and bring their youthful energy into The Sewing Shed. It’s been a joy.

It hasn’t been an easy decision to make but I need to put my health first after my stroke last summer, and part of that is managing my teaching workload. So, from January 2026 I will be focusing on term-time teaching and our sewing classes for adults and Young Designers, our after school sewing club for Y6 and secondary school students.

A warm welcome to Carol Ann, our new Patchwork & Quilting Tutor

I also want to wish our new Patchwork and Quilting tutor Carol Ann a very warm welcome, who told us, I’m looking forward to meeting new participants and the great variety of work and techniques that come together within a group of creative people learning new skills.’ We’re excited to see what our Patchwork & Quilting students make this year with you at their sides.

Thank you for sewing with us

Thank you again for sewing with The Sewing Shed, and please do send in your me-made photos. We love to see you wearing your me-mades out and about and share them with our community for inspiration.

    Many thanks,

    Leonie
