Sewing classes

Come and release your inner sewing bee at The Sewing Shed! We’d love to welcome you to one of our adult daytime and evening sewing classes. We have mixed ability sewing classes where beginners are welcomed in every class, as well as Childrens Sewing Classes and a Young Designers Sewing Club.

NEW FOR SEPTEMBER 2025 : BEGINNERS are being grouped together on a Tuesday or Friday Morning and on a Tuesday or Wednesday Evening.

Students might have slightly different starting points depending on their experience with a needle and thread, but thanks to our small classes we can guarantee plenty of time with your tutor which combined with our nurturing environment will help you to build your skills and confidence.

Manage your classes with our friendly WhatsApp group

We run our classes in six-weekly blocks, but we know that sometimes you might not be able to make your usual class. It’s why we set up a student class-swap WhatsApp group.

It means you can manage your diary and swap classes with other students when you can’t make your usual day and time. This way you don’t miss out on any sewing plus, you meet even more students and see what they’re creating!

What will I learn?

• Core dressmaking skills including how to measure to fit your shape, read a pattern or how to achieve a shop bought finish.
• Understanding how to read a pattern.
• Understanding how to use a sewing machine.
• You will benefit from the nurturing atmosphere of the small classes
• Creative input from tutors as well as their expert knowledge.

Leonie teaches Mixed Ability Sewing, Beginners Sewing, Curtain & Roman Blinds, 1:1 and our Children’s and Young Designer’s Sewing Classes.

Becky teaches our Monday Morning Class, our Mending Workshops and 1:1.

Susan teaches Beginners Sewing on a Wednesday evening.
