Creative Textiles / Embroidery

If you’re looking for a creative outlet that combines sewing, embroidery and mindfulness then our new Creative Embroidery is the perfect answer.

Creativity through embroidery is at the heart of this course and each week students get the creative juices flowing by working on their stitch journal. This is a great opportunity to experiment with textures and markings using hand stitches and thread while learning new and developing sewing skills.

Each week experienced tutor Susan Oliver brings together a small group of students and under her gentle guidance teaches hand, machine and free motion embroidery. Susan has been teaching in and around Ilkley for over a decade and is a huge advocate of slow sewing and repurposing.

In addition to creating a stitch journal Creative Embroidery gives students time and space to create personal, unique gifts including:

  • Pictures of landscapes or people
  • Wall hangings
  • Stitch samplers
  • Bookmarks and cards

You don’t need to have sewing or embroidery experience to get the most out of this course. Susan is on hand to provide all the technical knowledge you need as well as creative ideas. And don’t forget the support of your fellow students. You just need bring your imagination!
